December 18, 2013

Dear Ottawa residents,

With today's announcement, Ontario is helping Solantro Semiconductor Corporation bring to market made-in-Ontario technology that will raise the efficiency of solar power while creating up to 20 jobs in Ottawa.

Solantro has developed technology that will help solar panels produce more energy, while making them cheaper to design and install. Ontario is supporting the company with a new investment that will help it field test this technology and attract buyers and investors.

We are giving Ontario companies, like Solantro, the tools they need to compete and win in the global marketplace. Today’s announcement will not only mean new jobs in the Ottawa area, but it will help secure our place as a world leader in renewable energy manufacturing.

My coleague Reza Moridi, Minster of Research and Development says “Ontario is proud to partner with innovative companies like Solantro that are turning new ideas into energy solutions and great jobs for Ontarians. We are proud to support the development and commercialization of clean technologies that will not only bring environmental benefits but will boost the economy while improving the quality of life for people across Ontario."

Providing clean, reliable and affordable power is part of the government's plan to invest in people, build modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate across Ontario.
