Ottawa Now - PSAC fears that potential public service cuts could run deep

Last week, Canada’s Finance Minister suggested that the size of the public service has grown too large, and that it should be trimmed back to pre-pandemic levels. With less than 24 hours remaining until Budget Day 2025, the Public Service Alliance of Canada fears that these job cuts could run deep and far. PSAC National President Sharon DeSousa, who represents Canada’s largest public sector union, joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
The government’s 2025 budget sets out an agenda of $141.4 billion in new spending offset by $51.7 billion in projected savings over the next five years.
