Alberta health agency broke own rules in Turkey medication, private clinic contracts, report finds

Alberta’s provincial health agency did not follow its own policies for two major contracts, one for procuring children’s pain medication from Turkey and another for opening a private surgical clinic in Edmonton, according to an independent review commissioned by Premier Danielle Smith’s government.
Raymond Wyant, a retired judge from Manitoba, this week submitted his 43-page report examining alleged procurement and contracting problems at Alberta Health Services. The government made the report public Friday.
