Ottawa Now - Local non-profit organization calls for faster access to life-saving and life-extending treatments

September 10, 2025

In 2013, Anne Bachinski-Bradford was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and was projected to live for just a matter of weeks. Her husband, John-Peter, refused to accept this reality. He wanted to do everything in his power to extend his wife’s time on Planet Earth for as long as he could. Thanks to countless hours of hard work and advocacy, she got to spend precious time with her grand-kids before taking her final breaths, memories that would have otherwise remained dreams. John-Peter’s efforts haven’t ceased since her passing, as he wanted to give other families the precious time that Anne had received. Teaming up with his wife’s oncologist, Bradford co-founded Life-Saving Therapies Network, which is constantly fighting for faster access to life-saving and life-extending treatments. He shares his emotional journey on today’s Ottawa Now.
