Ottawa Now - Downtown councillor reprimanded by City Council for social media comments, but won't be docked salary
August 27, 2025

Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante has been reprimanded by City Council over a series of social media debates. However, in an amended motion that was passed today, she will not be docked 3 days worth of salary for her past actions. Ottawa's Integrity Commissioner found that Plante had violated the Code of Conduct for discrimination and harassment, saying she had engaged in 'harassment, intimidation, and online bullying' in relation to debates over sprung structures. The Downtown councillor countered this claim while addressing City Council earlier today, and argues the decision by the City's Commissioner sets a bad precedent. Plante joins Kristy Cameron on today's Ottawa Now.
