Federal ministers meet with canola lobby amid an escalating trade war with China

Agriculture Minister Heath MacDonald and International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu are meeting with canola groups this afternoon following China’s announcement that it will hit Canada with a 75.8 per cent tariff on the crop.
The ministers are set to meet with the Canola Council of Canada and the Canadian Canola Growers Association later today.

A 71-year-old man from Cornwall, Ont., is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed an elderly woman in Ottawa in what police consider to be a hate-motivated crime. Police say a woman in her 70s entered a grocery store on Baseline Road with a friend at around 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday when she was approached by a man who stabbed her, causing serious injuries.
