Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. July 31st, 2025

July 31, 2025

In one of Quebec’s biggest cities, traffic signs forbid right turns on a red light. And while you can’t legally pull that off in Montreal, a right-turn-on-red is not illegal in Ontario. Here in Ottawa, however, calls are growing to change that. At the very least, traffic safety advocates are calling for conversations and debates to be held about this issue. Somerset councillor Ariel Troster is one of those voices. Another is Knoxdale-Merivale councillor Sean Devine. Kristy Cameron speaks to the latter in Hour 1. We also get the other side of this debate from Beacon Hill-Cyrville councillor Tim Tierney, who is not currently siding with his two colleagues. Plus, we are nearing the end of Kristy’s Summer Hit List, as Bell Media personalities deliver their last-minute Summer getaways. Joining us for today’s edition is CTV Ottawa newsanchor Stefan Keyes.
