Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. June 19th, 2025

June 19, 2025

On Wednesday’s show, we briefly dove into the basics of intersection safety, and examined the troubling trends that Canadian cities are facing right now. Today, it’s red-light cameras, and the somewhat-positive trends we’ve been noticing lately. King Edward Avenue is home to a trio of Ottawa’s 10 busiest red-light cameras in 2025. To be fair, that’s a long stretch of traffic ground to cover. However, in a section of Lowertown, that camera has snagged fewer red-light runners in the first 4 months of this year. Is this a sign that people are getting the message, or are today’s drivers finding different shortcuts? Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante joins the program in Hour 1. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines, and a familiar voice is helping us out on the CFRA Newsdesk!
