Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. July 11th, 2025

July 11, 2025

Andrew Pinsent is filling in for Kristy Cameron this afternoon. As we heard last month, the province is assuming control of a quartet of school boards. One of them is Ottawa’s largest. And ever since a knock on the door from the provincial supervisor, there has been a ‘communications blackout’ at the OCDSB, as trustees and school officials are now locked out of their work accounts. Trustee Lyra Evans pays us a visit in Hour 1 to address an uncertain future. Meantime, we have officially entered Day 2 of RBC Bluesfest, as the crowds continue to roll into LeBreton Flats. On the second-to-last day of this year’s festivities, an Ottawa-based pop-punk band will be taking the stage. Andy chats with We Were Sharks vocalist Randy Frobel. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
