Drones dropping contraband to inmates pose challenges in Quebec detention centres

On any given day, drones buzz in the skies above Quebec’s detention centres looking to drop tobacco, drugs or cellphones to the inmates below. Statistics from Quebec’s Public Security Minister show staff reported 274 drones flying over provincial centres between January and March – or just over three a day. That doesn’t include the 10 federally-managed prisons in the province.

U.S. President Donald Trump will leave the G7 Summit in Alberta early, with the rising tensions in the Middle East cited as the reason.
In a post to X late on Monday afternoon, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said that Trump “had a great day at the G7,” and “much was accomplished.”
“But because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State,” Leavitt wrote.
