Meantime, the City of Ottawa is exploring the idea of a ‘bubble bylaw’, a piece of municipal legislation that would restrict the locations of lawful protests. If a demonstration is located near a school, a hospital, or a place of worship, organizers might be asked to pack up their belongings and move to a different location. Mayor Sutcliffe says he supports a balanced approach, and admits that this measure is just the beginning of a much broader process. Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Group of Seven Summit Monday – an opportunity for the two men to make progress on resolving a damaging three-month trade war. Police in Gatineau are investigating the deaths of two people of carbon monoxide poisoning Saturday night. Gatineau firefighters were called to a residence on Boulevard Wilfrid-Lavigne in the Aylmer district just after 7 p.m. The victims were found deceased. The investigation was taken over by police. Police have released no further details.
