Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is projected to lose his Ottawa-area seat to Liberal challenger Bruce Fanjoy, making him the second federal leader to be rejected by voters in Monday’s election.With 264 out of 266 polls reporting early Tuesday, Mr. Fanjoy won 42,374 votes, or 50.6 per cent, to Mr. Poilievre’s 38,581 votes, or 46.1 per cent.

Conservation officers in British Columbia say they killed a black bear after it attacked a woman walking her dog in Whistler.A statement posted online by the Conservation Officer Service says the woman was walking her leashed dog in the Kadenwood neighbourhood around 8:30 p.m. on Monday when she was knocked to the ground and bitten by the bear. The statement says she was taken to hospital by ambulance and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
