Ontario Premier Doug Ford told reporters on Thursday that he and all of his fellow premiers are backing Prime Minister Mark Carney’s response to the U.S. tariffs, but he deferred to the federal government to spell out exactly what Canada will do – and added that he would support strong action.Mr. Ford said that he would support a matching U.S. tariff on automobiles – but that this decision was up to Mr. Carney. The Premier also said both governments would help support affected auto workers.
