Last week, Ottawa received 69 centimetres of snow from Mother Nature. This week, we are headed for a late-February thaw, as the temperatures climb above zero. Our snowfall total currently stands at 134 centimetres, meaning we have reached nearly 50 percent of 2019’s recorded snowfall. That year is noteworthy because, as the temperatures got warmer, the water levels rose. In turn, that caused flooding in problematic areas. Are we headed for that same reality in 2025? David Phillips, a Senior Climatologist with Environment Canada, tries to calm our nerves. And in the wake of simmering animosities between U.S. President Trump and the entirety of Canada, two Americans were busy spreading the love at a Windsor restaurant. A total of 60 meals this past Saturday had been paid for by a visiting couple from Ann Arbour, Michigan.
