Hundreds of people gathered on Parliament Hill Sunday for the “Elbows up, Canada” rally as U.S. President Donald Trump threatens economywide tariffs and making the country into the 51st state.The “Elbows up, Canada” rally came together after four days of planning, drawing big name speakers including former foreign affairs minister Lloyd Axworthy, Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and stand up comedian Shaun Majumder.
Recently, Ottawans learned that SNC-Lavalin, now AtkinsRéalis, is being sued for $100 million over its management of the Trillium Line light-rail construction. But few taxpayers know of SNC-Lavalin’s leading role in another contract that is costing them billions. Read More

France Bélisle was the first woman elected mayor of Gatineau, in 2021. She resigned abruptly just a little over a year ago, on Feb. 22, 2024. She cited toxicity in politics as one of the main factors for her sudden departure. Then we learned that nearly 800 municipal politicians in Quebec had also resigned since the 2021 elections.
