Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. February 14th, 2025

February 14, 2025
During yesterday’s massive snowstorm, seven dogs and puppies were found abandoned in Barrhaven. To be more specific, 3 dogs were located outside of the Audi West Ottawa dealership centre, while 4 puppies were left behind in a nearby Barrhaven park. The good news: All of them are alive and all of them have been transported to the Ottawa Humane Society for further treatment. OHS spokesperson Stephen Smith joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 1. Meantime, U.S. President Donald Trump continues to ponder the vision of Canada joining America as the 51st State, a visual that Prime Minister Trudeau insists will not happen. This has fueled a wave of patriotism, and all of Canada’s living Prime Ministers are calling on Canadians to fly the red flag with pride on National Flag Day. Forrest Pass, a flag historian and Archives Canada curator, looks into the Maple Leaf’s decorated history as Canada’s symbol.
