
The Legault government has introduced Bill 2, a controversial new law that changes how today’s doctors are being paid for the services they provide. It ties a portion of a doctor’s paycheque to performance targets, while also imposing strict sanctions upon anyone who is caught for non-compliance. How strict, you may ask? A Saskatchewan home inspector and avid hunter has been charged with manslaughter and firearm offences in the death of 44-year-old Tanya Myers, a Reiki therapist and “animal whisperer” who was shot while a passenger in a moving vehicle on a highway near Weyburn, Sask., in September. Christopher Fahlman, 42, was arrested by RCMP in Regina on Saturday, and remains in custody. RCMP say that Mr. Fahlman and Ms. Myers did not know each other.

More than half of today’s students who attend schools in Ottawa and Toronto don’t have up-to-date immunization records. And according to public health records, both cities are falling behind. As of October 12th, Ottawa’s Public Health Unit said that roughly 16,000 students’ immunization records were not up to date, a list that starts in Grade 2 and goes as far as Grade 12.
