BREAKING: Nova Scotia MP Chris d'Entremont quits federal Conservative caucus

November 4, 2025

OTTAWA — Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont quit the Conservative caucus Tuesday afternoon, setting the stage for a potential floor crossing to the Liberals on the same day the minority Carney government tabled its first budget.

On Tuesday afternoon, d’Entremont made the stunning revelation to media outlet Politico that he was considering crossing the floor to the Liberals and would make a decision in coming days.

Two Conservative sources told National Post that d’Entremont left caucus after the story was published. One source confirmed he resigned in a letter to leader Pierre Poilievre.

The sources were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss internal party affairs publicly.

The departure sets the stage for his potential crossing to the Liberals, who are three seats short of a majority in the House of Commons and are looking to secure the necessary votes to pass the budget tabled Tuesday.

More to come.
