  Why the Canadian sport system is in financial disarray

  Limited government funding is among many factors contributing to the state of financial disarray currently embroiling Canadian sport. As a result, National Sports Organizations have had to significantly tighten their belts, making cuts and slashing expenses wherever possible.
    Gusty winds and rain were lashing parts of the Maritimes this morning as a large low-pressure system moved into the northeastern United States and Hurricane Melissa accelerated towards eastern Newfoundland.The Category 1 hurricane was heading in a northeasterly direction, about 800 kilometres south of Nova Scotia, feeding some of its moisture into the low-pressure system.

    Holsag Canada's furniture manufacturing faciliy in Lindsay, Ont., will close in March 2026 and relocate to the United States. Up to 130 jobs are expected to be lost.
