Ottawa Now - Will chocolate prices be the scariest fright on Halloween Night?
October 6, 2025
If you are taking part in Halloween trick-or-treating this year, the biggest fright of the night might be the price of a chocolate bar. Recent figures from Stats Canada showcase a 28.8 percent price increase for confectionery items, observed between August 2021 and August 2025. Over the past year alone, that increase was a staggering 6.3 percent. So as we head into the Halloween season, how super-scary is that price tag going to be? Kristy Cameron tries to gauge the situation with Mike Von Massow on today’s Ottawa Now. He is a Professor of Food, Agricultural, and Resource Economics at the University of Guelph.
Warned by RCMP three times he was to be killed, Moninder Singh said Sikhs feel let down by Canada's decision to resume ties with India.
