Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Fri. September 12th, 2025

September 12, 2025

In the past, we have seen music artists issue cellphone restrictions, or even cellphone bans, during concerts. Others have banned noisemakers, most notably The Foo Fighters. And if you’ve attended one of Taylor Swift’s concerts, you’ve probably received the memo that large costumes and balloons are a no-go. Tonight, a British songwriter is issuing a ban on meat products at Ottawa’s CityFolk festival. Fans are not allowed to bring meat products into the venue. Food vendors are not allowed to sell meat-based items. And leading up to his Friday night setlist, CityFolk says they will comply with Morrissey’s requests. Beyond the obvious items, should artists have the ability to issue their personal restrictions during shows? Kristy Cameron gathers live reaction from Moonshine BBQ owner Melissa Beaver. Then, she opens the floor to the mighty CFRA Nation, as she tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, the owner of Mobile Klinik is picking up the pieces after the Merivale Road location was hit by robbers earlier this week. Fatema Hamouda’s father was at his home in Barrhaven, and on the phone with police, while the store was being robbed. He bolted to the store to survey the damages, only to find no officers at the scene when he got there. Thankfully, no one was hurt. And as we bid farewell to a hot-and-dry Summer, what’s in store for Fall? Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips takes a gander at his radar screen.
