Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Fri. September 12th, 2025

OC Transpo officials are still targeting a late-2025 opening of O-Train Line 1 service, predominantly to passengers in Orleans. However, when they were asked for a concrete launch date, none was given during Thursday’s Transit Committee meeting. Director of Rail Construction Richard Holder has outlined the 6 steps that are required before service can receive the green light. We are about to enter Step 1 of that process – testing, commissioning, and Line 1 integration. Beacon Hill-Cyrville councillor Tim Tierney wasn’t holding his breath when asked about a pre-2026 launch date, holding onto hope for a February 2026 launch date instead. Kari Glynes-Elliott, a co-founder of Ottawa Transit Riders, joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. On a lighter note, it’s probably easier to catch a ride to the nearest movie theatre these days. If that’s something you wanted to do this weekend, Matt Demers has got you covered with his Weekly Movie Picks! Fair warning: Friday’s countdown kicks off with a Horror movie. Plus, in an update to an ongoing postal service saga, Canada Post is putting its foot down on junk mail. CFRA's Chris Holski explains.
