Degrassi co-creator Linda Schuyler has filed a lawsuit to halt the Saturday premiere of Degrassi: Whatever It Takes at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Schuyler is suing the producers of Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, alleging that “defamatory statements and innuendo” in the film lead viewers to believe she created an “empire” that profited at the expense of the show’s young actors.

Police say a one and a half-year-old child is dead after an SUV crashed into a daycare north of Toronto this afternoon.They say six other children ranging in age from one and a half to three years old were injured and brought to hospital, and one of them is in critical condition.York Regional Police say three staff members were also hurt in the crash at the daycare near Yonge Street and Nottingham Drive in Richmond Hill, Ont.

Council today approved the Proposed 2026 budget directions, timeline and consultations process.
Council approved direction for staff to draft a budget which limits the property-tax increase to no more than 3.75 per cent, including increases:
Up to 2.9 per cent for Ottawa Public Health and the Ottawa Public Library
Between 2.9 and 6.5 per cent for the Ottawa Police Service
Between 3 and 15 per cent for Transit Services, and a transit fare increase between 2.5 and 7.5 per cent
