August 8, 2025
Stats Canada has unveiled its job numbers for the month of July, and it’s been awfully tough sledding for Canadian job-seekers. And for the country’s youngest employees, it’s especially harsh. CTV’s Kimberley Fowler digs through the data in Hour 4. Meantime, if you’re craving a short-term escape from the real world, how about a trip to the local cinema? Matt Demers has got you covered with his Weekly Movie Picks! Today’s lineup features a drama-comedy flick, a horror-mystery hit, and a sequel from the 2000’s that features Lindsay Lohan. And finally, if news breaks, you’ll hear it live on CFRA’s Ottawa Now.
Picket lines by British Columbia’s public service employees are expanding to 22 sites involving more than 4,000 workers in an escalation of their labour dispute with the province.Among the new picket locations are government offices and other sites in Nanaimo, Kamloops, Kelowna, Cranbrook, Nelson, Fort St. John and Smithers, adding to previous locations in Surrey, Victoria and Vancouver.
