The City of Ottawa has announced that all employees are returning to the office full-time, effective January 1st. A new memo from the City Manager cites it as the new standard, insisting it will help strengthen the organizational culture. Of course, the door is open to some exceptions, but this decision isn't sitting well with everyone, spawning negative reactions from multiple city councillors. Kitchissippi councillor Jeff Leiper believes that city service actually improved in a hybrid environment, and argues that this recent shift goes against the city's vision for itself. He joins Kristy Cameron on today's Ottawa Now.
A new report released as students across the country return to school finds bullying, poverty and mental illness are on the rise among Canadian youth and urges action from policy makers to improve the lives of children. The Raising Canada report says more than 70 per cent of Canadian youth between the ages of 12 and 17 experienced bullying in the last year, and more than 13 per cent of children were living in poverty by the end of 2024.
