Mayor of Newfoundland town among volunteer firefighters missing work to battle wildfire

Volunteer firefighters are on the front lines of a roaring wildfire that has forced hundreds to flee their homes in rural Newfoundland, and some battling the flames are missing work to be there.
Jason Chaulk says he was supposed to fly on Monday for Saskatchewan, where he is a rotational worker at a mine.
Currently, Jody Allen is working with Americans from several states who are interested in moving to Nova Scotia.

Three workers who were trapped in a remote northern British Columbia mine have been rescued after more than 60 hours underground.Red Chris mine operator Newmont Corp. NGT-T said the three men were safely bought to the surface at about 10:40 p.m. on Thursday.
