For generations, the path to adulthood in Canada was scripted: you graduated, started working and bought a house, likely all in your 20s.

That timeline has changed. Hindered by expensive housing, a growing number of Canadians are buying their first home later in life – into their 40s and beyond, a time traditionally used to save for retirement.
