Alan and Dawn Gosnay moved to the northern Ontario township of Fauquier-Strickland, where about 500 people live, with hopes of lower housing costs and being closer to their grandchildren. But soon after settling in, their property taxes more than doubled and they learned the community was in financial crisis.
