Intermittent nightly closures on Wellington Street between O’Connor and Metcalfe

Wellington Street between O’Connor and Metcalfe Streets to close for the Block 2 Redevelopment Project
Wellington Street, between O’Connor and Metcalfe, will be experiencing nighttime and weekend closures over numerous dates from now until the end of July. Detours will be in place during the closures.
Here are the dates and times of the closures:
- Westbound closure only – occurring now to June 19, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening June 20, 6 am)
- Westbound closure only - June 23 to 26, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening June 27, 6 am)
- Full closure - July 2 to 3, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening July 4, 6 am)
- Full closure – July 4 to 6, closing on Friday at 6 pm and reopening on Monday, July 7 at 6 am
- Full closure – July 7 to 9, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening July 10, 6 am)
- Full closure – July 14 to 15, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening July 16, 6 am)
- Full closure – July 21 to 24, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening July 25, 6 am)
- Full closure – July 25 to 27, closing on Friday at 6 pm and reopening on Monday, July 28, 6 am
- Eastbound closure only – July 28 to 31, nightly from 6 pm to 6 am (reopening August 1, 6 am)
- Westbound closure only – From Wellington Street, south on Elgin Street, west on Albert Street, north on Bank Street, back to Wellington Street.
- Full closure
- Eastbound detour – From Wellington Street, south on Elgin Street, west on Albert Street, north on Bank Street, back to Wellington Street.
- Westbound detour – From Wellington Street, south on O’Connor Street, east on Slater Street, north on Elgin Street, back to Wellington Street.
- Eastbound closure only – From Wellington Street, south on O’Connor Street, east on Slater Street, north on Elgin Street, back to Wellington Street.
A 41-year-old Halifax man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother after the two argued over the subtitles on a video she was watching.Jonathan William Pinsky pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in April, admitting he experienced a “fit of rage” when he punched and kicked his 71-year-old mother, before stabbing her neck.
