Canada set to sign defence procurement pact with EU this month, European leaders say

European Union officials say Canada is likely to sign a defence procurement agreement with the continent when Prime Minister Mark Carney goes to Brussels later this month.Carney is set to visit the administrative capital of the European Union on June 23 for the Canada-EU summit, where he will meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa.
Canada is hosting an assortment of world leaders at this year’s G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta. Earlier this morning, Prime Minister Mark Carney mingled with U.S. President Donald Trump, their first in-person meeting since Carney’s White House visit last month. And while both seemed optimistic about future negotiations, they still have different concepts as to what the economic relationship looks like. Quebec provincial police used helicopters, drones and tracking dogs on Monday in their search for a three-year-old girl who went missing in the Montreal area over the weekend under unclear circumstances.The child was last seen around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday on Newman Boulevard in Montreal’s LaSalle borough, and was reported missing at around 3 p.m. in Coteau-du-Lac, Que., about 50 kilometres to the west.
