Lacking money to purchase Christmas gifts one yuletide, Sarah Kramer and a friend produced a photocopied, handmade magazine filled with sassy writing and vegetarian recipes.The punky, samizdat-like publication was so popular with friends and family that they produced several hundred to be sold to the public at punk and hardcore concerts. When that zine almost immediately sold out, they took the idea to a Vancouver book publisher.
