British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is in Ottawa to meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney today before the two leaders leave for the G7 leaders’ summit in Alberta.He will meet Carney this morning in his West Block office on Parliament Hill before both leaders fly separately to Calgary.

Canada and the United Kingdom have agreed to resume negotiations over a stalled bilateral trade deal following a meeting between Mark Carney and Keir Starmer in Ottawa over the weekend.Canada will also support Britain’s efforts to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership, according to a joint statement from the two prime ministers, released Sunday. The U.K. has been seeking to join the 12-member free trade pact since 2021, and needs the support of other members.
