Protesters hold 'people's forum' in Calgary ahead of G7, prepare for Sunday march

On the final day before G7 leaders gather in Kananaskis, Alta., a wide range of activists and community groups converged in downtown Calgary to hold a "people's forum" aimed at challenging the priorities of the summit.

Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Group of Seven Summit Monday – an opportunity for the two men to make progress on resolving a damaging three-month trade war. The Prime Minister’s Office told reporters about the meeting on Sunday. The G7 summit is taking place in the Rocky Mountain resort of Kananaskis, Alta.

KANANASKIS, Alta. — It’s an odd thing to be asked your business in your own country, in your own province, in an area where you’ve spent plenty of time hiking and climbing and skiing.
A place where the whole purpose is to be free — or at least freer than in the city.

Police in Gatineau are investigating the deaths of two people of carbon monoxide poisoning Saturday night. Gatineau firefighters were called to a residence on Boulevard Wilfrid-Lavigne in the Aylmer district just after 7 p.m. The victims were found deceased. The investigation was taken over by police. Police have released no further details.
