A judge has fined a commercial kitchen company $10,000 for bylaw offences linked to an E. coli outbreak at Calgary daycares that saw hundreds of children fall ill.Fueling Minds Inc. pleaded guilty in April to four offences relating to the company’s failure to have a catering licence.The company faced a maximum $40,000 fine, but lawyers made a joint submission recommending $10,000 and the judge agreed.
National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman would not say whether any of the five former world junior hockey players on trial for sexual assault in London, Ont. would be allowed to return to the league if they are acquitted.Speaking at a press conference in Edmonton ahead of the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals — and just days before closing arguments are set to begin in the players’ criminal trial — Mr. Bettman said that the league wants to let the court proceeding play out.
