Text messages prosecution says are crucial in Hockey Canada sex-assault case not currently admissible, judge rules

A text message that the Crown attorney Meaghan Cunningham has said is critical to the prosecution’s case has been ruled inadmissible by the judge presiding over the sexual assault case of five former members of the 2018 world junior hockey team under one evidentiary pathway.Now, Ms. Cunningham is making one final attempt to put the message on the record under a different evidentiary rule. After legal arguments on Friday in a London, Ont., courtroom, Justice Maria Carroccia said she will reach a decision on Monday.
