May 21, 2025
The flags at the West Carleton Community Complex (5670 Carp Road) will be lowered to half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, May 22 in honour of the late Dwight Eastman, who passed away on Friday, May 16.
Dwight Eastman was an accomplished public servant, farmer, consultant, politician and community leader. He began his career in 1969 after graduating with a major in Systems Analysis, eventually becoming Chief of Operations for Statistics Canada’s Health Surveys before leaving government in 1980. He balanced a dual career of farming beef cattle across seven farms and consulting as a systems expert for various government entities throughout Canada. Dwight Eastman also dedicated himself to public service, serving six years as Mayor of West Carleton Township and then three years as the first City of Ottawa Councillor for West Carleton’s Ward 5 following amalgamation.
Dwight Eastman’s funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 22.
