Former student sentenced to 11 years in University of Waterloo mass-stabbing case

A former University of Waterloo student who stabbed a gender-studies professor and slashed two of her students in their classroom in 2023 has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for a hate crime aimed at stoking fear on campus.But Ontario Court Justice Frances Brennan found that Crown prosecutors did not prove the attack by Geovanny Villalba-Aleman constituted terrorism because they failed to show he held a coherent ideology that inspired his rampage.
