Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. February 6th, 2025

February 6, 2025
Today, we are revisiting an issue that is becoming more cumbersome for Downtown businesses to navigate. Yep, we’re talking about bylaw tickets. Business owners allege that today’s system is way too aggressive, and that it is making the jobs of delivery drivers tougher to complete. For years, getting customers to visit the Downtown Core has been a huge challenge, and this fuels the fire even further. So where do we go from here? Who better to ask than Michael Lalonde, a Program Manager of Parking Enforcement and Logistics at the City of Ottawa. You read that right. He plans, designs, operates, and maintains the city's public parking. You will hear his voice in Hour 3. Then, we open the debate floor to the mighty CFRA Nation, as Kristy Cameron tackles today’s Question of the Day. Plus, Trump’s tariff war on Canada has been put on hold, as the country’s top officials try to cook up a long-term solution to satisfy the U.S. President. If he isn’t satisfied by the early days of March, Trump will likely hit the big red button and trigger a trade war with America’s closest neighbour. Joining the show to provide his insights is former Conservative MP Peter MacKay, who once served as Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister and National Defense Minister under the Harper government.
