As we saw in the leadup to Saturday's Ottawa Senators game, Canadians and Americans aren't exactly 'best friends forever' right now. This was demonstrated during the Star-Spangled Banner, when the Canadian Tire Centre faithful let the boos rain down. Other Canadian markets have echoed similar vibes when they have hosted American teams. What does the future hold for this diplomatic relationship? Fen Hampson, a Professor of International Affairs at Carleton University, says a lot of it hinges on the pending trade war. If it ends badly, then it could get really sour very fast. Speaking of sports, Prime Minister Trudeau is awaiting a follow-up call from U.S. President Donald Trump, as he hopes to find a tariff break. The reason for the long wait: Trump is hosting the defending Stanley Cup champions from Florida. As you might recall, the Panthers won the 2024 championship at the expense of a Canadian hockey team.
