We are heading into the homestretch of Christmas shopping season, and we've got some genius gift-giving suggestions on today's Ottawa Now Gift Guide. Joining us with her list is CFRA producer extraordinaire Maryanne McLarty. Meantime, Canada's interest rates could be going down even further in the near future. At least, that's according to recent signals from the Bank of Canada. We dig deeper in Hour 2. Plus, the country-wide tax holiday has been in place for almost a week now. We check in on a local restauranteur to see how they've been faring.
Starting Tuesday, the United States will impose across-the-board tariffs of 25 per cent on Canadian goods and 10-per-cent tariffs on “energy resources.” The 25 per cent levy will also be placed on goods from Mexico, while Chinese goods will face an additional 10 per cent tariff. The Canadian government immediately announced retaliatory tariffs on many American products.Here is how Canadian premiers reacted on Saturday.
