Top officials with N.L. Hydro believe a new deal for energy sales and development on the Churchill River will power a fresh surge in mining activity in Labrador, and generate significant jobs and revenue for the province.

Starting Tuesday, the United States will impose across-the-board tariffs of 25 per cent on Canadian goods and 10-per-cent tariffs on “energy resources.” The 25 per cent levy will also be placed on goods from Mexico, while Chinese goods will face an additional 10 per cent tariff.
