'Always a great spot to book' — Local drummer reflects on Cafe Dekcuf closure, state of the scene

January 8, 2025
Cafe Dekcuf is the latest venue to close or face financial hardship in Ottawa, shutting down its ByWard Market location after 20 years as changes continue throughout the music scene. Stuart MacFarlane is drummer for local bands Neon Ghosthouse and Root Cause and a longtime Dekcuf visitor and performer. He joins Kristy Cameron with his memories of the venue and where things stand more broadly right now.
